In March of 2012, I awakened at 4:00 am in the morning with extreme nausea and the feeling that my head was going to spin off from my shoulders. I staggered to the bathroom and vomited. I’d like to share with you what I found to be the cause of and treatment for the extreme vertigo that was ruining my life.
The type of vertigo that I experienced is called benign positional vertigo (BPPV). Many doctors are not familiar with this diagnosis and do not know how to treat it. BPPV occurs when very small crystals of calcium carbonate break free from the tiny hairs in your inner ear, and float into the fluid filled canals. Proper positioning of these crystals is necessary for your brain to determine the position of your body and maintain balance. If a broken crystal bends some of the hairs in the wrong way, the signaling to your brain can be disrupted, and the result can be vertigo. Some of the symptoms of benign positional vertigo include:
Doctors often misdiagnose this condition and simply prescribe an anti vertigo medicine that does not get rid of the problem. In this article, I will share with you how you can quickly and completely eliminate the problem.
The first thing you need to do is search for a doctor in your area who treats benign positional vertigo. This practitioner will go over your medical history, and give you head positional testing and a functional balance evaluation. If you have benign positional vertigo, when you are in a lying position and turn you head to one side, you will experience spinning and nystagmus (eye jerks) within several seconds. This will confirm that you have BPPV.
The doctor will then guide your head through a series of rotations designed to reposition the displaced crystals from the fluid filled part in your ear to the inner part of your ear where they came from. Once BPPV is cleared, if you are still having symptoms, you will want to find a practitioner who has an “Epley Omniax Chair”. The head repositioning (Epley procedure) on the exam table did not work for me. I tried it several times and my symptoms did not get any better.
I did some research and found a doctor who utilized the Epley Omniax Chair. This chair allows the practitioner to detect, differentiate, treat and eliminate your balance and dizziness problems by pinpointing the location of loose crystals in your inner ear canals, and providing the information needed for effective treatment. Once the dislodged crystals are moved out of the inner ear canals and into an area where they can be absorbed by your body, your symptoms will cease.
This procedure worked perfectly for me! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
